'Tunnel options stir anger' 8 Mar 11 HERE
Help save ANZAC Park Toowong from becoming a construction workforce car park for Brisbane City Council's 'Legacy Way'. In October 2010 BCC proposed the site. On 10 December 2010 we filed in the Supreme Court of Queensland an application for an injunction. On 16 December 2010 the 'Coordinator-General's Change Report' refused the proposal for the car park. In February 2011 BCC returned with two options to destroy the park-ANZAC Park North and the Dog off-leash area. On 5 April 2011...SAVED!
ANZAC WAR Memorial Park Toowong may well be the first in the world. Many families have buried urns & scattered ashes of Returned Soldier loved ones here for decades. The memorial avenues of palms & other trees were planted during WW1 immediately after Gallipoli. Turning this beautiful, iconic & sacred park into a commercial car park is a disgrace to the memory of the fallen & offensive to all citizens. 100,000’s of Australian War dead did not sacrifice their youth for a foreign mining company commercial car park.
